TALK
by BULLDOZER

You know, lately there has been a lot of talk going around, you know, pissing matches. I never have been able to understand it, hell, I don’t know if I even want too. You see talking just gets on my nerves. Most people, who talk, just talk. Yeah, they may be able to back up some of what they say, but generally, if they’re talking more than doing, they are probably just talking.

I understand competition perfectly. As a matter of fact, I love it and thrive off of it. Competition is what drives most of us. But when we let competition get personal, at least for me, you’ve probably gone just a hair too far. Listen, I know we all get fired up, but our sport is about having a hell of a good time and lifting some huge ass weight. It’s not about who’s better than who, who’s more popular, who’s a “badass,” who uses the most gear, or who can talk the best shit. It’s about making ourselves better, one lift at a time.

Our sport is a small group, as a whole. I was talking to a buddy at my last meet and he brought up a great point. He said, “Even if you’re the best Powerlifter in the world, the only other people who know about it, or even care about it, are the other unknown Powerlifters.” You know, that really hit home for ole’ Dozer. It made me love what we do even more. It proves the point that we do this for us. We are selfish as hell in that sense, and that’s fine by me.

I will lift anywhere, anytime, any fed. I don’t care. I lift for me, and only me. I lift to smash my previous PR’s. I get high off of that. I’m not going to be posting up a 2500lbs total at my next meet, hell, I would be happy with 1700lbs. I’m not going to break any world records either. I am the “Average Joe” Powerlifter. I lift because I love to lift. I lift for me. You got a problem with where I lift? Screw you bro. I could care less. I could lift at an unsanctioned gym meet, and if I hit a PR, guess what? That was an awesome meet! It would rank up there with the ProAm, WPC World’s, the Arnold, IPF World’s, what the hell ever. When I go into a meet, it’s about me, hitting my lifts and having a hell of a time with my friends. If I happen to walk away with a prize, great, if not, who cares?

I have never been much for “talk.” I’m more in the “do” crowd. I just do my thing and have a good time. I’ll hit my PR’s, you just keep talking. You’re probably bigger and stronger than me, and maybe you will get even stronger by running your mouth, I have no clue. What I do know is that while you’re worrying about all the little stuff, I’ll be lifting. Hitting my PR’s and making my progress one lift at a time.

See you in the gym,
DOZER
