I am not sure where I should begin or even what I am trying to accomplish by writing this. I guess I am just writing to vent some frustrations I have. Let me first start by saying that, in no way will I intentionally try to “stir the pot” or “step on anybody’s toe’s” with anything I say. I am not an elite lifter, nor anywhere close to elite. I am a average lifter that has some, although little, experience compared to a lot of you. So, please do not take offense. With that being said, I could give a Fuck “how high up on the lifting pedestal” someone reading this might be. You don’t have to be a genius or an “elite lifter” to see that the state of Powerlifting is complete disarray. The only thing it really takes for someone to see this is a 7th grade education and access to a PL Forum such as PLWatch (which, I will add is a great forum with a ton of info on it).
The bitching, moaning, grumbling, whining, griping, “mud-slinging” and every other negative comment that people make about certain things are flat out ridiculous. I have always said that if you DO have a complaint or bitch about something, say it in a tactful way. Is it hard to do! Fuck No! It’s not! I see lifters, from the top to the bottom, who like to belittle, talk shit, and other wise make asses of themselves for no reason other then the fact that someone, somewhere in this world disagreed with them. WOW-What a fucking shock! Everyone doesn’t agree on everything! Call the news!
The whole debate/argument about gear and raw lifting is so old and so retarded, that I am almost embarrassed to bring it up. Is GEARED lifting Powerlifting….YES! Is RAW lifting Powerlifting….YES! Powerlifting is a sport that has the same backbone with different limbs. It is that fucking simple!
I have seen grown fucking men talk shit almost to the point of wanting to throw blows! Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously, have you ever thought about how fucking retarded it is to get down to that point? Regardless of who or what pissed you off! There is no doubt in my mind that even the one’s who decide to “spout off” at the mouth have a passion for this sport. That is why it is even harder to understand. How many of you have been to a meet where there was actually blows thrown over a disagreement? I would assume not many of you have.
Whenever I hear about a meet, the majority of the time, it was a great time, with lots of camaraderie and a lot of support. BAM! That is it! THAT IS WHAT THIS SPORT IS ALL ABOUT! Having fun, competing, supporting each other, learning different things, and of course….GETTING STRONGER IN THE PROCESS!
Sorry for such a long “vent” but I wanted to get this off my chest!
I would like to thank Curt (THE BRUTE) Dennis for keeping all the bullshit off of this site. This is really the only site I have been a part of that let’s a “newbie” feel at home and where the atmosphere is like (and is) being part of a brotherhood who have the same goals…becoming stronger with the support everyone here. Thanks Bro!
