Together Everyone Achieves More

We have all seen or heard this saying over the years especially if we have played a team sport. This saying is becoming more and more apparent in my training. My environment has gone from mediocre to poor in the last few months and luckily I have been able to hang onto my lifts but it is becoming all that much harder to do so. I am continually reading books, article and other training information both for myself and to make my athletes i train a bit better and the one thing that seems to be common among all the great lifters and athletes of the world are the people that surround them. Every great lifter has a training partner or group. Why do you think everytraining system that is popular nowadays is successful? Look at Louie Simmons and Westside Barbell: I love the science he uses to back up his training but look at the environment he creates for his athletes. They train in groups, they hype each other up and they don't let anyone drag them down. The are consistently pushing each other to the limit. Other examples are Metal militia and joe average. All of these systems work and have positives and negatives but the reason the group that "invented" these systems are so successful is the group of people they have around them pushing them to the limits.

We need that extra push, whether its in the spirit of competition, friendship, or pure bitter hatred for the person, to get us to the next level. I have seen numerous athletes I work with get 2,3,4 more reps on a max out set just because their team is around them cheering them on. I am now on a mission to find new training partners so when I do train it is at a higher level. Sometimes we outgrow our partners and we need a new group to take us to the next level. Unfortunately with powerlifting, we are limited to our cities and counties surrounding us. we don't make enough money to move and train with other groups. Some are willing to make that sacrifice but most are not.

I encourage everyone involved in this solo sport to find a TEAM to join. That team may concict only of one or two other people but as long as you are trying to reach similar goals and you can push each other to the limit each and every workout then you know you have found your home. For most just being involved in a small group witll be enough to take them to the next level, for a few they wil have to find bigger and badder groups to train with. So to acheive your goals join some one because TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE.
