Life is too short! Life is too Short!
We have all heard it a million times, but have we really sat down and thought about it. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to bring your own life into prospective. Well it happened to me last November, 2 days after Thanksgiving. I was at work. It was around 2:30 pm. My father and I worked at the same job together and I knew it was strange for him not to be at work at his regular time of 2:00. My father also lived with me and my wife, so I picked up the phone and called my wife. She had been painting the baby room all morning trying to get it ready for the arrival of our twin boys who were expected to arrive in March. I asked her if she had seen him up and around that day and she stated that he was still asleep in his room. I asked her to go into his room and get him up so she goes into his room with the phone in hand and with me on the other end of the line calls out to him from the door to wake him up. “Papa Don, Papa Don, wake up!! My wife lets me know that he is not waking, so I told her to call on a friend who lives down the street and is the Chief of Police, and have him come over to check on him, since she was pregnant I really didn’t want her getting too upset over the situation. Sure enough be had passed away in his sleep of a massive heart attack.
You never really think you will ever loose your parents, but when it happens it is truly devastating. For months I didn’t want to go to sleep, because I was afraid I would not wake up. That’s when it really hit me. LIFE IS TOO SHORT! I realized at that point that God only allows us to be on this earth for a very short time. Tomorrow is not a guarantee. Its time to enjoy your life people and stop pissing it away. Do the things you enjoy most. Love your family and friends while you and they are still here. And always follow your dreams. Don’t let anybody or anything stand in your way of accomplishing them. Whether it be benching 135 or 535. Whether it be winning your local powerlifting or bodybuilding meet, or whether it is becoming a pro, don’t let it slip away. If you do you will be wondering “what if” for the rest of your life. Time is ticking away people, and it slows down for nothing or nobody. Treat everyday like it is your last and you will be surprised how much better your life will be.
God Bless you all…..
